Fiona Caulfield says in the afterward to her intimate guidebook to Delhi that she went looking for an authentic restaurant and ended up “creating a series of travel-books for luxury vagabonds.” Printed in India on unbleached, hand made paper, with shocking pink endpapers, it is the most utterly friendly guidebook I have ever consulted. The love oozes from the entries. She knows the shopkeeper, has enjoyed the ayurvedic spa and sipped the lassi. She highlights environmentally sustainable organizations which she urges our support of. The entries, be they for hotels or shops, restaurants or spas run the gamut from large to small, grand to authentic. Her Blending In insights are to the point. This is information you glean from a friend. This is the eye you trust.
