An hour and a half from Puerto Valle, In the Province of Misiones, is the authentic, family owned and run, Estancia Santa Cecilia. Occupied by the current family since 1950 – the house was constructed in 1908 – it’s principal industry is the raising of cattle and the growing of pine tree plantations. Eight years ago the mistress of the house opened her doors to guests who can stay in any one of four rooms with en suite bathrooms. Old fashioned, welcoming, and as real as it gets, the estancia would appeal to families or individuals interested in rest, horseback riding, or visiting the many Jesuit ruins found nearby in Argentina, Paraguay or Brazil, all within a day’s drive. With a large swimming pool, gorgeous trees and planting, a quincho for asados and table games, it’s an appealing option at a very reasonable price.
